From career building programs for the professional floral designer to special interest classes for personal enjoyment, at Floral Design Institute we take pride in being able to offer a wide range of classes and programs to meet the needs and interests of today’s students.  Hundreds of different classes and programs are offered; everything, from a simple two hour class on creating a hand-tied floral bouquet, or an intensive one day wedding flowers boot camp to a business class or an advanced three day program in large scale floral design.  Our Certification Career Programs are recognized as the finest training programs available anywhere.  The training goal is to give students the maximum amount of high quality, career relevant training in the shortest amount of time.  The training approach is “hands-on” with 25% of the class time dedicated to lecture and demonstration and 75% dedicated to student practice and critique.  Students are given the opportunity to work with numerous varieties of fresh flowers and foliages.  The diverse curriculum attracts men and women with various aspirations.  Whether you plan to become a floral designer for a retail floral shop,  work independently as a free-lance designer,  dream of working as a studio based wedding designer, have a goal of owning your own floral business or simply desire to acquire floral design skills for personal enjoyment,  Floral Design Institute can help you achieve your goals.Every attempt is made to recreate in our Learning Center the working atmosphere of a highly professional, progressive flower shop. The work tables, equipment and tools are all professional and mirror what will be found in the workplace.  The Learning Center is brightly lit with natural light.  Fresh flowers and floral products are used throughout the programs with each student working exclusively on their individual projects.  Classes are kept small and a student to teacher ratio of twelve to one is maintained.  Plenty of individual assistance is given to all students.  

In addition to Learning Center programs, Floral Design Institute also offers Distance Learning Programs.  Comprised of the same training as our Learning Center programs, our Distance Learning-Study at Home programs are designed to provide education for those who are unable to join us in the Learning Center.  Working at your own pace, in the comfort of your own home and following the step-by-step training in our proven distance learning programs, you will learn everything you need to prepare yourself for a rewarding career in the world of flowers.  Graduates of FDI Distance Learning Programs are awarded the same certifications, letters and privileges as are the graduates of Learning Center programs.

Floral Design Institute is licensed to conduct a private vocational school by the Oregon Department of Education. Floral Design Institute is a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) Educational Partners and is an Approved Educational Pathway to AIFD Certification and Accreditation.

Graduates of Basic Floral Design and Advanced Floral Design are awarded the title “Floral Design Institute Certified Floral Designer”, and may add the professional letters FDI to their name.  Graduates of the Wedding Floral Specialist program are awarded the title ““Floral Design Institute Certified Wedding Floral Specialist”.  FDI Certified Designers may wear the exclusive professional pin “FDI Certified”.
