Last year, after doing a lot of research on different schools, I enrolled for the Basic Floral Design online classes with FDI, and I must say it is the smartest thing I have ever done for myself. They are so truly interested, they are easy to get a hold of, so positive, so inspiring - and as AIFD they have incredible knowledge and a respect for the craft that shines trough in everything they do. After one year of Basic Floral Design I landed an internship and because of them I am never in doubt that I know what I am doing, simply because I know I am trained by the best.  If you are going to choose a school, this is the best one you can find. Before any more time passes, I want to tell you how much I enjoyed my first experience at the Floral Design Institute. I took the Basics of Floral Design class last week as a personal gift to myself. I love arranging flowers, so I wanted to see if this might be a career path. Kathy was our instructor. She was excellent - made the class informative, fun and a beautiful. I learned a lot about the process of floral design and how hard florists and their staff have to work to produce the beautiful creations we give and receive. Today was the first day in the flower shop! I go back Monday and Tuesday too! The owner let me jump right in and start designing. The owner stated that my designs were beautiful, look nice and full and held well during delivery due to my weaving technique. Finding FDI was the best thing that could have happened to me! After being home with my kids for 10 years, floral design had been a love and a hobby of mine for many years. As my kids all went off to school I had to opportunity to figure out what I really wanted to do career wise. To be able to pursue my education in floral design from my home was a dream come true. I have thoroughly enjoyed the videos and the kind of communication your school is known for. I feel that my status as a student in your distance learning means that I am cared for by the school. This is not an easy thing to accomplish via distance learning. You all do a fabulous job making this an intimate and a positive experience for the distance learner. I had always assumed that I just lacked the intrinsic knack for floral design, but was determined to give my daughter the flowers she wanted for her recent wedding. I closed my eyes, jumped off the cliff, and signed up for your Wedding Flower Boot Camp class. The instructors were so much fun, and I felt so successful even after just one day that I was able to approach my daughter's wedding with confidence! I'll definitely be back for more classes. Who knew you could be approaching fifty before you realized what you really loved doing? I think it's never too late.  LuAnn

I just want to take a moment after finishing my module 7 (almost half of the course!!) to let you know how I'm feeling about this great distance learning experience. I am very happy with the course and although it is challenging, and a bit stressful, what I'm learning and experiencing is really, really worth it all.
